for 1857, with 7 1/2in. octagonal barrel signed 'ADDRESS SAML COLT HARTFORD C.T.', the sides of barrel throat with possibly period but non-factory borderline and scroll engraving, plain cylinder with roll engraved scene stamped 'COLT'S PATENT' along with the serial number, open iron frame with engraving en-suite to the barrel and signed 'COLT'S PATENT', brass grip-straps and trigger-guard bow (traces of silver plating), plain walnut smooth one-piece grip and articulated under-barrel rammer, minimal traces of blued finish
